Anyone have a line on a trusted a/c shop in the NW burbs?

    2 reasons:

1.99 intrepid lost it's charge out of the blue last fall and when I charged it it only lasted 2 days, so need it diagnosed before it gets hot

    2. Doing a Sanden conversion on my Fury, and need someone to bubble crimp the hoses when I'm done and pull a vacuum on it to make sure it's tight and then fill it.

I'm in Hanover Park, the closer the better.
    Thanks

I've got an A/C vacuum pump, manifold gauges and other associated stuff at home in Lisle if you're interested. Either that or my shop in Villa Park has an A/C machine that we can do recharges and stuff with. I don't have any way to crimp the hoses though. The place we usually go for that kind of stuff is Bristol Hose in Northlake.

Do you have the black light kit and sniffer at home or at work? I need to figure out where the Intrepid is leaking from. I'm afraid it might be the evaporator, which is going to be unfriendly to my wallet. I'll send you a PM, I think maybe bringing it down to your work once it's running so that it can sit under vacuum on the 'big machine' might be best, to check for leaks. Scott gave me a line on a guy that might have the crimper, I need to call him.

I have a MILTON crimper and I need to know what size ferrules ( collars) you need crimped. There are about a dozen dies or shoes that go into the crimper and I'm not sure I have ALL the sizes,,but PROBABLY do.. I have a snap on vacuum pump and both sets of manifold gauges for R 12 and also R134A.. Trade school educated on R 12 and also R 134a AND certified ASE and also by the Govt... I DO NOT have any more R 12 But I think I can still get it for about 15.00 a 14 ounce can from BRAZIL.. ( I think they are still making it ) I have a FRESH 30# can of R 134A but I STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND retrofitting it if it is a R 12 system... Freon sniffer and leak detector if needed.. by MIDWAY AIRPORT in CHICAGO !!!

The Fury will need #6, 8, and 10 hoses crimped. I had already retrofitted the OEM system, so it's 134a. I may take you up on the sniffer for the Intrepid too as I'm a bit afraid the leak is the evaporator. Last fall a friend with the UV light looked all over the underhood and nose of the car and couldn't find any dye around the condenser, but it is hard to see in the nose of it.
