    New guy, old Chrysler

Hey there, fellow northern IL Mopar guys.

Just picked up a '53 Town and Country wagon last week.

The straight 6 runs beautifully, the brakes are weak and scary, the "semi-automatic" transmission is goofy and fun. It has the original 70K on the odometer, and delivered flowers for a funeral home in upstate NY for 40 years.

Hoping to turn this into a daily driver / long distance tow vehicle for our 1954 Airstream trailer. Anybody with an older car who's upgraded the drivetrain with modern engine (V8 especially!), EFI, airbags, etc. is encouraged to weigh in. I need some wisdom and experience during this process, as it's my first rodeo.

I'm beginning to see how much time and money this will take... but dedicated to make some wonderful, hidden upgrades to this very original car in order to make it reliable and safe for my wife, myself, and our dogs.

    Nice to meet you all,
    Brad
